'Boardwalk Empire': New HBO Series Feat. Steve Buscemi

I just found out over at THR.com that HBO has secured 11 episodes of a new series starring Steve Buscemi, with the pilot being directed by the master of mob himself, Martin Scorsese.

Written by Terence Winter, "[Boardwalk] Empire" is set in 1920 at the dawn of Prohibition and chronicles the life and times of Nucky Thompson (Steve Buscemi), the undisputed ruler of Atlantic City, who was equal parts politician and gangster.

To editorialize a bit, I have to compliment HBO on its programming choices lately. Aside from the atrocious John From Cincinnati and the poorly developed (though potentially good) Lucky Louie, HBO has been on a very long roll, and they deserve some credit. The shows have been consistently amazing, even post-Sex in the City and post-Sopranos. Ku-dos.
