Saw VI Trailer

I know it may be ridiculous to decry the lack of plot in a Saw trailer - especially for a sixth installment - but I do believe the filmmakers have let the last few drops of creativity spill out of the bucket this time. Saw V was atrocious on so many levels, especially considering that Jigsaw "died" all the way back in the 3rd installment, so I should not be surprised to see that the trailer reveals absolutely nothing in the way of story. It feels oxymoronic to actually wonder about story in Saw, but I am curious to know how far they can go to keep Jigsaw alive for these flicks. Opens October 23.

Two Million Minutes Trailer

2 Million Minutes is (obviously) a documentary about education in the 21st century. Filmmaker Robert A. Crompton searched the world, looking for schools that exhibited the kind of curriculum conducive to learning in today's environment.

This film takes a deeper look at how the three superpowers of the 21st Century - China, India and the United States - are preparing their students for the future. As we follow two students - a boy and a girl - from each of these countries, we compose a global snapshot of education, from the viewpoint of kids preparing for their future.

Our goal is to tell the broader story of the universal importance of education today, and address what many are calling a crisis for U.S. schools regarding chronically low scores in math and science indicators.

The film's name is a reference to the number of minutes a youth experiences in his/her teenage years. You can watch the above trailer or order it on the site.

Raiders of the Lost Ark Trailer (1951)

A while back, I posted a similar "trailer" for Ghostbusters, and here is (obviously) 'Raiders of the Lost Ark', ostensibly. I like the casting of Chuck Heston as "'Indiana'" Jones, pulled from the movie 'Secret of the Incas'. Or would it be "'Indiana' Jones"? I don't know. If there is one movie that truly inspired Indiana Jones, look no further than Secret of the Incas. This low budget adventure romp has more right to that accolade than any other film or serial in the adventure genre. The film stars a young Charlton Heston as Harry Steele, a seedy fortune hunter who is determined to find the Sunburst, an ancient Inca treasure hidden somewhere in the bowels of the ruins of Machu Picchu.

Defendor Trailer

The new take on super hero flicks stars Woody Harrelson as Defendor, a nocturnal vigilante hell-bound on catching a villain named Captain Industry (obviously!). He has no super powers and uses only his wits to prevent crime.

Historically, satirical super hero movies haven't done super well, but I'm looking forward to seeing what this might have to offer. According to DontCThis, 'Defendor' is coming to the Toronto Film Festival later this month. io9.com put it succinctly when they previewed the movie last year:

Defendor - only the second superhero movie ever to be named after an anti-vandalism product following 1995 flop FAAC 615 Hydraulic Barrier Gate Operator - will be written and directed by Peter Stebbings, who has some experience with the genre, having acted in an episode of short-lived 2003 X-Men rip-off Mutant X. Gray's Anatomy's Sandra Oh will also appear in the film, as Harrelson's psychiatrist, alongside currently-hip actor Kat Dennings, who'll play a teenager who befriends Harrelson's character.

?Cloverfield 2 Teaser Trailer? May..be?

I have to admit that I am just a big fan of the first Cloverfield flick. I know, I know. It uses a drawn-out first act (ostensibly to make you "care" about the characters and/or make the movie seem more "real") in order to set up a pretty frantic and - I have to say - kick-ass second and third acts. Sure the movie runs into some trouble towards the end, and I'm not a huge fan of the ending, but it's still a pretty good, though gimmicky, flick.

And it also had a pretty good take at the box office as well, so it wasn't a surprise to me to see what seems to be a teaser trailer for the sequel while I was trolling the internet the other day. I found a post on Topless Robot that points out a few noticeable things, like the sign near the end that appears to say Cloverfield. Either way, let's see where this viral video marketing thing takes us.

Inception Trailer - Christopher Nolan

Though the trailer for the movie doesn't reveal much plot-wise, the music playing underneath (or above, whatever) is absolutely phantasmal. Awesome.

Avatar Teaser Trailer

The trailer for James Cameron's new film, Avatar, has been eerily hard to find on the internet, but here's the link ot it on Apple's site.

My first impressions: It looks...meh. I mean, don't get me wrong, there's something intriguing about it just because James Cameron did it, but that alone doesn't make me want to make out with it. I mean, they are marketing it with the 'from the director of TITANIC' thing, which, to me, seems weird. I know it's the most popular film in the history of forever, but for science-fiction's sake, shouldn't it be saying 'from the director of T2: Judgment Day' or 'from the director of Aliens' or, at the very least, 'from the writer of First Blood: Part II'? I mean, if we want people to go see the movie and everything.
