The Music Industry Has Lost Its Collective Mind, Officially.

From BBC News:

A shop assistant who was told she could not sing while she stacked shelves without a performance licence has been given an apology. Sandra Burt, 56, who works at A&T Food store in Clackmannanshire, was warned she could be fined for her singing by the Performing Right Society (PRS).

However the organisation that collects royalties on behalf of the music industry has now reversed its stance. They have sent Mrs Burt a bouquet of flowers and letter of apology.

I know that this trope is overused, but I wonder what George Orwell (or Kurt Vonnegut, for that matter) would have to say about this. It's so absurd that I'm nearly - NEARLY - speechless about it. The story almost seems like something a satirist would write to make a jab at the music industry.

I would also like to take a moment to pat myself on the back. This post represents Jinx Protocol's 1000th entry. Thanks, JOAJ, for bringing that to my attention. Hooray me!

Live-Action 'Simpsons' Skit - W. T. F.

This video is not the live action intro FOX did for the Simpsons a couple of seasons ago, but a skit for a Spanish language SNL-type show...I think. At least I hope so. Either way, it's still one of the most surreal and creepy sixty seconds of my life, no joke. The only thing I was able to find out about it is that it comes from a Spanish television show called Cruz y raya.com. They must do a lot of hallucinogens in that studio.

PSA - Texting While Driving

Intershame.com just posted one of the weirdest PSAs I've ever seen. And I've seen some creey ones. There seems to be a lost art to the awkward Public Service Announcement, but this one looks like it could have been made by Michael Scott on a baaaad day.

Occasionally I come across something on the Internet that's really hard to wrap my head around. I'm not sure if this is the most awesome public service announcement of all time or just sick and wrong.

I think I'll go with awesome.

There are (ostensibly) dead babies in this. That's right. Dead. Babies. That's how seriously they want you to take this. According to some studies, texting and driving is worse than drinking and driving. What better way to make your point than this video? I don't think there is one.
