Possible Raise in Minimum Wage?

AS the Congressional midterm elections loom - they are less than four months away - it seems that the Democrats are trying to gain support over the issue of minimum wage, which hasn't been raised in over eight years.

The New York Times has reported that wages are at a twenty year low, if accounted for inflation.

The minimum wage stands at $5.15 an hour presently, and the expected hike would make it a more formidable $7.25.

Pressure for this measure is certainly on in areas that are all-too-often deemed "swing states". Ohio and Arizona, it seems, are key areas in this fight.

Hmmm.

It makes me wonder, though, if raising the minimum wage is just compensation for the unearthly high gas prices so prominent these days. Will the gas issue just go away if wages are raised? I surely hope not. Even a two dollar wage raise cannot compensate for the cost-of-living that is perpetually going up.
